From runway to retail, these are the fashion fads that are taking over the Spring/ Summer ‘22 season.

Even with Fashion Week happening in the frigid months of September and February, your Fashion Guru (that’s me, duh) has already begun brainstorming your Spring/ Summer closet must-haves based on this year’s 2022 runway trends.
1. Sequins, Sheers, & See-throughs
Skin is DEFINITELY in for both the Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer seasons. The runway this year featured lots of mesh, sheer, and sequin-embellished garments. A favorite for us here at HKS had to be Coperni. They showcased a sequin micro-mini skirt ensemble paired with a scuba-style mock neck top in Princeton Orange. Versace also blessed us with gorgeous metallics in bright lime green, coral, mauve and magenta, with the appearance of black sequin trims and detailing throughout the entire segment.
2. Mini Madness
Legs, legs, legs! Ladies, mini skirts and dresses have made their official comeback in the world of high fashion—except this time, we‘re going micro. Paris Fashion Week for the SS22 season exuded a sentiment of sophisticated sensuality all throughout. Miu Miu graced the runway with audacious minis consisting of low-riding waistlines and high-rising hems. The extreme short lengths paired with sharp pleats and collared, college-style chambrays gave off a sexy professionalism. Miuccia Prada also paid homage to the pop-punk Y2K era. This high fashion Italian brand has officially taken over the New Nostalgic genre, and are pushing women to step outside of their comfort zones. As Miuccia Prada once said, “daring to wear something different takes effort.”
3. Strings and Straps
Laced up or tied down—strings, straps, and fringe had a chokehold on the PFW runway. The eponymous label Jonathan Simkhai, known for its advanced contemporary, ‘modern luxury‘ style, displayed statement pieces that embodied a seductive strength. Simkhai’s SS22 collection does a delicate dance on the thin line of masculinity vs femininity—allowing women to feel secure, confident, and sultry simultaneously—without ever losing balance. Another fringe favorite from this Spring/ Summer season for us was Alberta Ferretti. Her impeccable use of crochets and tassels elevated the simplest of pieces and birthed works of art.
4. Knits & Crochets
Again, we recognize moguls Jonathan Simkhai and Alberta Ferretti for their artistic manipulation and usage of knits and crochets. With that being said, lets talk about Etro. While the family-managed fashion house is mainly known for their iconic paisley prints, we couldn’t help but notice the subtle incorporations of crochet crops and floor-length gowns, which paired beautifully with both the color and textile palettes of the collection.
5. Platforms
The runway reached new heights this year as platform heels, boots, and sneakers cascaded the catwalk. From Versace, to Acne Studios, all the way to the Balenciaga x Croc collab, platforms definitely dominated this year’s featured footwear. Acne Studios gave us timeless clog-style sandals, while Versace showcased crisp, chromatic pennyloafer platforms.
Basically what we’re saying is… less is more. Less fabric, more skin. Less layers, more colors and textures. Higher hems and even higher heels. This Spring/ Summer season is all about breaking barriers and stepping into the future of fashion. Be bold! Be sexy! But most importantly, be creative! Fashion is INSTANT language! In a world where human interaction is ever so fleeting, make sure they never forget what the fuck you had on. *Don’t forget to heart this post below and subscribe to our site for all future updates.*
